Non-native speakers of English who wish to study in American universities are usually required to submit proof of their English-language proficiency. A high score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), therefore, can be an important part of a college application. This ARCO test-preparation guide can help. Overviews of the TOEFL are followed by strategies to help you master the four sections of the exam: Listening, Structure, Reading, and Writing. The authors also teach you how to recognize each question's "testing point"--the specific area of English on which you're being tested, e.g., grammatical structure, idiom, or intonation.
