Fathers have long played second banana to mothers in parenting books, but Armin A. In The New Father: A Dad's Guide to the Toddler Years, the third book in his New Father series, Brott takes on the second and third years of life from Dad's perspective--what he's experiencing, and what he should know. In answer to the question, "Why bother to stay involved?" Brott replies, "Three simple reasons: it's good for your kids, it's good for you, and it's good for your relationship with your partner." Brott covers the whole gamut of fatherhood issues, from developmental stages (discussed in three-month blocks) to discipline, dating, even divorce. Rather than focusing solely on kids, Brott discusses the larger experience of being a father, in a well-crafted, sensible manner.
