Sonnets for Sonnets? Sake is a loose compilation of poems written to elicit the feeling each title suggests. Some contain three quatrains and a couplet, while others are more straightforward, consisting of just fourteen lines ending in a couplet. Pay close attention to the last two lines of the sonnet as a resolution to the sonnet?s theme. I believe poetry to be an artifice of soul expression that lends a voice to that deeper part of our self. Though traditionally romantic, as in the Shakespearean genre, sonnets may often be polemic or prompt us to think about a subject in a different way. Rhyme schemes vary from the Petrachian, Shakespearean to modern, but however lyrically devised, it should speak to the human spirit in passionate imagery either through our vivid sense of mortality or the inveiglement of impassioned lovers and other such emotions. I sincerely hope that out of these one hundred sonnets, a few of them speak to you as my muse did to me.
